Hymns
Most of Vernon Higham’s hymns were written during a period of serious illness. They reflect the nearness of the Lord at a time of weakness. The very first hymn written during this period of ill health was ‘I Saw a New Vision of Jesus- a View I’d not Seen Here Before’. Other well-known hymns include ‘Great is the Gospel of Our Glorious God’ and ‘Deep in my Heart There is a Sigh’.
He also wrote Welsh Hymns (Emynau Cymraeg) and translated some fine hymns by Ann Griffiths and Ambrose Williams from Welsh into English. William Williams Pantycelyn’s famous Welsh hymn ‘There is a Path of Pardon’ was translated by him.
Thirty-seven of his well-known hymns, including more recent compositions, are found in ‘Christian Worship’ the hymnal published by Christian Worship.
